Quartz Ridge Sanctuary is a place for soldiers and veterans with PTSD to work with bees, horses, and other farm animals. Participants will learn how to farm in order to gain skills transferable to the civilian workforce and to minimize the impacts of PTSD.
Rehabilitation psychologists will come to QRS and offer individual and group therapy as needed. They will also use biofeedback training to help participants reduce the symptoms of PTSD.
The goals of the project are to help participants transition to civilian life, develop confidence, independence, social skills, reduce the negative impact of the symptoms of PTSD and find meaning and purpose in life and to support their communities.
The Sanctuary was created in dedication to the memory of a veteran, who took his own life on July 1, 2015 as a result of PTSD and not having adequate support.
